Free Madrid Resources

Getting to know Madrid doesn’t have to cost a thing. Here are a few free resources — from museum hours to zero-cost buses — to help you make the most of your visit.

Free Museum Hours

  • Museo del Prado — Free Monday to Saturday, 18:00–20:00, and Sunday/holidays, 17:00–19:00 (permanent collection only)
  • Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza — Free Monday, 12:00–16:00, and Saturday, 21:00–23:00
  • Museo Reina Sofía — Free Monday and Wednesday to Saturday, 19:00–21:00, and Sunday, 12:30–14:30 (closed Tuesdays)

Free entry is limited to available capacity, so it’s worth arriving a little early.

Free Buses (Líneas Cero)

  • 001 — Connects Atocha station to Moncloa, running through the very center of Madrid (Paseo del Prado, Cibeles, Gran Vía, Plaza de España). Runs daily, 7:00–23:30.
  • 002 — Connects Puerta de Toledo to Argüelles, passing through La Latina, Tirso de Molina, Gran Vía and Conde Duque. Runs daily, 8:00–21:00.

Both are 100% electric and completely free — just hop on, no ticket needed.
